My Life In Seattle

Happy Birthday!
Today I am 44 years old. I would love to say that 44 is the new 34 but I fear I have neither the fame nor wealth to make that staement true. So 44 is simply what it is. I feel the same. I look the same....I suppose I thought there would be an enlightening moment when all things would be made crystal clear. But nothing of sort. I get to continue on like many others. And that's pretty cool when you think about it!

Seatte, Seattle!
Like a bipolar high school girl Seattle still can't decide on which season it wishes to be. Not that I'm complaining. I will be forever more content to walk around in foggy, damp grayness!
My friend and boss Seth is leaving us at work for an offer at the U.S. Attorney General's Office! A sad day indeed.

A Change is Coming
Each Autumn I become optimistic about life. Much more so than in the warmer months. I think walking has something to do with this feeling. I adore walking. And now that I live downtown, I can pretty much walk to wherever I like. I mean come on, The Metro pretty much sucks in Seattle. But just being able to walk in the slightly chilly morning air, alone with your thoughts, to me is some kind of magical.
A cool new restaurant finally opened up below me. Since moving to my downtown location, the restaurant on the ground level has changed many hands. But now a very fun funky Pizzaria moves in and the neighborhood has approved. The old mob hangout Vito's also re-opened with many assurances that no one will be shot (that's always good!) So my quirky little neighborhood continues to be surprising and vivacious!
Come to think of it, life can be that way at times as well

September Comes
I think there is a song that goes by that title but for the life of me I cannot recall who sang it. No matter. Seattle is gray once again and I am somehow very appreciative for it. While the sun was definitely enjoyable, one starts to feel claustrophobic in the heat and brightness. Or at least I do. Work is about to pick up so I will be no doubt quite busy. Busy enough that I won't have to wonder about love and all of that nonsense. A full work schedule will make you forget almost everything!

Happy Birthday!
My beautiful daughter turns 24 years old today! Gosh, time really flies by.
It seems like it was just days ago that I was reading her a story at bedtime.

A Very Gray Summer
Although it is officially summer. it is still very dark and gray and rainy here in Seattle. That happens from time to time. Last year we had a blissfully hot summer that was filled with non stop activity. This year however is proving to be the opposite. Barely 52 degress right now on June 21st when most cities are well above 70. Am I jealous of those ofther cities? A little bit. But weather like this does have its benefits. You become reflective. And hopefully resolute in your decisions to lead a purposeful life.
